This set of meticulous brush paintings are from Castiglione’s Atlas of Blossoms in an Everlasting Spring. There are 16 paintings, and every one of them is stunningly beautiful and exquisite. These paintings can be seen in the Palace Museum in Taipei, Taiwan.

Like European oil paintings, Castiglione’s paintings pay a lot of attention to realism, shading and perspective relations. They also have the touch and atmosphere of traditional Chinese paintings. These 16 paintings look very real and the touch of each brush stroke is delicate, with brilliant coloring. These precise brush strokes bring out the unique characteristic of these paintings.
