Seventeen infants have died across China since Dec. 13, 2013 after receiving the hepatitis B vaccine. Initially, four died in Guangdong, Hunan, and Sichuan provinces. The vaccine they were given was produced by Shenzhen-based BioKangtai Company.

According to the newspaper Express, a newborn at the Longgang District People’s Hospital in Shenzhen recently died after being vaccinated. Three other infants in Hunan Province also showed serious adverse reactions after receiving the hepatitis B vaccine produced by the same company, and two of the babies died.
