Thousands of police raided establishments in Dongguan implicated in the China sex industry, including several 5-star hotels. Reports indicated that Liang Yaohui, owner of the Crown Prince Hotel, also serves as chairman of Zhongyuan Petroleum Group, and is the controller behind the nation’s largest hotel, Dongguan OYC International Conference Hotel.

Liang Yaohui did not come from a rich family and worked in the service sector earlier. However, in recent years, he has been quite successful in business. Now, he has investments in foreign oil wells. According to reports, he has 10 oil wells in Kazakhstan, and his investments continue to expand.

In 2007 and 2008, Liang was listed as a multi-millionaire. Meanwhile, his political career also picked up. He was elected as a representative in the 11th National People’s Congress in January 2008. He served as the representative of Guangdong region in the 12th National People’s Congress, and served in the National People’s Congress in 2013.

On Feb. 10, New Tang Dynasty Television quoted remarks from well-known political commentator William Tell, who said that exposing Liang is related to Zhou Yongkang, the top dog in the oil group.

William Tell: “The sex industry has existed in Dongguan for 20 years with officials’ silent consent. Suddenly, it was struck such a heavy blow. There must be something behind it. ”

From Liang’s rising status in the oil industry, Tell believes that Liang is being implicated in the Zhou Yongkang case. Liang is not only powerful economically, but also politically, so he is not a small fry.
