The largest Chinese tourist group in history has just landed in the USA – over 70 flights with almost 7,000 people.
From the 21st to 26th of May, a business travel group of almost 7000 people is taking more than 70 flights, arriving at LA international airport in batches. This a record for the largest single tourist group of Chinese citizens traveling to the USA.
Over 1.7 million Chinese tourists per year have been landing in America in recent years, showing an increasing trend.
Some Chinese netizens comments online centered around apparent propaganda from the Chinese government promoting travel and tourism in North Korea—it’s supposed to be great, cheap, close, and communist… but nobody goes there. There were others just down right suspicious of the trip altogether.
Chinese netizen’s comments:
- Why not travel to the place of Kim Jong-un in North Korea? Doesn’t [this record tour to the US] point out the issue?
- Who are those 7000 people? Who paid for the trip? What “observe and study” programs are arranged in this so-called “business travel”?
- From now on, thousands of people will visit the USA by charter flights like this. Hey—why not they perform line-dancing in the Time Square with all those people and break the Guinness World Record for that too?
