There’s an old saying in Guangzhou, that: “If it walks, flies, swims, or crawls with it’s back to heaven, it must be edible.”

Guangzhou, formally know an Canton, is world-famous for it’s bizarre cuisine. And anything from turtles, scorpions, snakes to chicken feet, and embryos are devoured by locals—especially the older generation.

Imagine if you went to Guangzhou for a holiday; do you think you’d be brave enough to try scorpion, stinger ‘n all?

The Chinese believe that all food carries energy that effects our qi, or life energy. A massive variety of unusual foods are sold at the market, such as birds’ nests, jellyfish, fungus, pigeons, frogs, starfish, and worms, which are sold for their health benefits.
