As if it’s not already hard enough to get to school some days, these kids in Yunnan Province have to wade through a river to get there!

Their elementary school is in Funing County, and some of the teachers live on the “wrong side” of the river too, so they carry the children across when the water gets too fast or deep, according to Sina News.

The kids wear sandals to school, even in winter; that way it doesn’t matter when their feet get wet.

One of the teachers reportedly said it can be quite scary sometimes when the water gets rough, and they all hope local authorities will build a bridge there one day.
