China Mind-Blow of the Day: Living Fossils

Tadpole Shrimp are over 200 million years old. This little guy is considered a living fossil. Meaning, it’s only relative species have all gone the way of the dodo—extinct. But it just keeps on trucking.

Whilst rare in China, in California they’re so numerous that they actually create problems by dislocating the sediment so much that it hurts the local ecology. If only humans could have that kind of longevity.
