A 50-year-old woman in Jiangsu Province tried to commit suicide in a river that was over 6 feet deep, but failed because she was obese.

Witnesses in Nanjing saw a body floating in the water, and called the police, who discovered she was still alive. They rescued her with ropes, and floats, and then sent her to hospital, where she is recovering.

She had apparently jumped into the river after quarreling with her husband, but survived because of her body fat, and also because pollution has made the water more dense, according to yaochanglai.com.
