A newly built series of bus stops in Nanjing recently disappeared overnight, according to yicai.com.

Worth over 142 million yuan ($23 million), the 24 new bus stops on Jiangbei Road included numerous benches and  shelters, and were only installed about a week ago using a truck and crane.

Scrap metal is very valuable in China where raw materials like stainless steel can be sold for a high price. Most likely the thieves used electric saws to remove the bus stops, and transported over half a ton of materials with trucks.
