Companies have recognized the power of online shopping for years now. Companies know that if you offer discounts for shoppers, they are even more likely to want to buy online. Now, it appears that the Chinese real estate market is taking note of that trend as well.
Chinese property developer Vanke is offering up to a $325,000 discount for buying a home online. Vanke is partnering with e-commerce giant Taobao, and offering special deals to entice home buyers. In order to qualify for the $325,000 discount, the home buyer had to have spent $325,000 on Taobao the previous year.
Twenty-three Vanke projects everywhere from Beijing to Hangzhou are up for grabs in the Taobao offer. The offer lasts through September 30, and if you spent between 50,000 yuan and 2 million yuan on Taobao last year, you can get an equal discount on your home purchase.
I wonder if Amazon will team up with a US real estate company to offer the same type of deal; I would at least be eligible for a $23 discount.
