The 52nd New York Film Festival opens today. Among the rabid film junkies, many are anticipating a last-minute addition to the lineup. A film about Edward Snowden is scheduled to make its world premiere.

Edward Snowden was a contractor for the NSA who, after revealing top-secret intelligence, sought asylum abroad. One of the people Snowden contacted while holding the classified documents was director Laura Poitras. Laura then flew to Hong Kong to meet with Snowden.

This film should further reveal what Laura learned, as well as chronicle Snowden’s ongoing struggle for asylum. The film is called CITIZENFOUR and is scheduled to play the festival on October 10th.
