After so much talk, Avengers: Age of Ultron finally gets a trailer.
What’s next for the superhero supergroup? Ultron. A cold, robotic foe who is accidentally unleashed on Earth. More superheroes come out and join the Avengers in their latest fight.
As you can see in the trailer, the Scarlet Witch and her lightning quick brother Quicksilver feature prominently. But this isn’t the comedic, kleptomaniac Quicksilver you saw in X-Men: Days of Future Past, though I wish it could be. This is the Quicksilver you can spot in the end credit scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Why are there two different versions of the same character?
It may have something to do with the Marvel movie characters being owned by different companies. One group of characters is owned by Marvel and Disney, the other by Fox. It appears that Quicksilver is owned by both. It may create the type of confusion in movies that has always existed in comics, where one character will appear in two different storylines at the same time, with separate writers and artists working on each. We’ll see who does a better job of interpretation.
The questions I’m wondering are what other characters from Marvel’s vast universe will appear. Nick Fury’s role in these films has been growing since his great performance in The Winter Soldier. What’s next for him? And will this finally lead to a Black Widow solo film?
We’ll just have to wait until next May to find out.
