Known as a Tuhao wedding in Chinese, the first character means uncouth, while the second translates as bold or bullying. It’s common for the nouveau riche in China to have lavish weddings as a way of showing off their wealth.
The event was held at the Wuhan Intercontinental Hotel on Nov. 8 with five luxury cars parked in the ballroom, including a Ferrari, a Maserati, and an Audi, according to Tencent News.
The Ferrari was driven onto a stage where the couple and their wedding party put on a dancing extravaganza for the guests.
A blogger commenting on the story said: “If you spend that much on a wedding, it’s just showing off. Usually people like that don’t pay attention to their marriage, they just like to show how rich they are.” Another wrote:
They’ll end up getting divorced because they show off. And easy come, easy go!
A netizen from Shangxi said: “I think it’s normal to have a wedding banquet in a 5 star hotel. I usually drive a Porsche Cayman and my wife drives a Boxster. We invite others to sing and dance, and get friends in our car club to form a group of luxury cars to show.
“It’s normal. My advice for you: Read more books and don’t hate rich people.”
