Meet Emperor Qin’s Terracotta Warriors, One of China’s Top Attractions

The Terracotta Army was created to protect the tomb of China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang Di, who unified China 2,200 years ago.

This National Geographic video shows the tomb with its life-sized soldiers, horses, and chariots.

Around 8,000 statues were buried with the emperor, and took about 720,000 builders to make from 246 to 206 BC.

The site was designated with World Cultural Heritage status in 1987.
