Phoenix Ancient Town: A Taste of How China Used to Be (Video)

Fenghuang Town, or Phoenix Ancient Town, was named after the legend when two of these mythical birds flew over the settlement, and lingered there because they found it so beautiful.

Located in Hunan Province, the area has beautiful green views of the mountains, and the Tuo Jiang River.

The houses are built on stilts with old bridges over the water that are reminiscent of how China was portrayed in traditional paintings, especially if it’s misty or has just rained.
