One Year On: How the Ebola Outbreak Began (Video)

A year after the first known case of the Ebola, over 5,600 people have died in what is the worst Ebola epidemic on record.

In December last year, its first victim died.

He was a 2-year-old child from a remote forest village in Guinea.

The virus then went onto infect and kill members of his family as well as local health care workers.

From the small village the deadly virus spread through the country and by March this year an outbreak had been declared.

As the above BBC video explains, Ebola then made its way into Liberia, followed by Sierra Leone.
