A 20-year-old girl walked into a mobile phone store in Chengdu with a her 5-year-old brother on Dec. 29, according to the Sichuan News.
She bought two iPhones, and said she needed to leave for a short while to get some cash from an ATM. Then she walked out of the store, taking the iPhones with her, but left her little brother behind as a guarantee. Surprisingly, the girl never returned.
The store staff stayed late waiting for her, and eventually had to call the police. The little boy was then taken to the police station, and fortunately knew his family’s phone number by heart. His father showed up at 3 a.m. to fetch him.
It turned out the girl was indeed the little boy’s sister, but she hadn’t gone home and was missing that night. Local police filed a report on the incident, and helped to look for her.
A Weibo blogger commented: “Maybe it’s only a misunderstanding. The girl might have been robbed when she was drawing the money. It’s unbelievable she could do this to her brother.
That would be even crazier than selling a kidney to buy an iPhone!
