When someone mentions wooden cars, what usually comes to mind is little toy cars. But this man’s “toy” in Liaoning Province is way bigger and more useful than most.

Not surprisingly, 48-year-old Liu Fulong gets plenty of attention whenever he goes cruising around town in his beautiful artwork.

He created his very first eco-friendly electric vehicle this August. Without any design plans or professional guidance, he researched the idea himself and looked for information online.

After three months’ work, and over 10,000 yuan (about $1,610) in expenses, his battery-powered wooden car was finally completed. Once fully charged, the car can run for 12.5 miles, and reaches a maximum speed of about 25 mph.

In fact, the wooden car just got upgraded. Liu used some extra timber to make it heavier, and now it can reach an amazing top speed of 31 mph even with a passenger, according to qq.com.

Liu lives in Shenyang, and has over 30 years of experience in carpentry. As a young boy, he had plenty of time to “play” with his hand-made toys.

Can’t wait for the next version! What extra features do you think he’ll add next?
