Remember that article I wrote a little while ago? This one about Dean Parker, the U.S. born surf instructor (and grandfather), who left his cushy life in Costa Rica to fight ISIS?

Well he doesn’t want to fight ISIS anymore.

He isn’t digging that war torn lifestyle at all, and wants to come back.

The issue it seems is that he doesn’t have much money to be able to come back, so he has started a crowd funding appeal. His effort on GoFundMe.Com is called ‘Deans fund to get home’. So far he’s only $60 of his $5,500 goal.

The description of the effort is short and simply reads:

Hey everyone,
Need a little help getting home and back on track. Donations will get me a plane ticket and a couple months of housing. Only asking for what I gave up to come to Kurdistan. Which was everything. Thanks for all your support during my time here. Thanks. Long Live Kurdistan.

I guess it just goes to show you if you ever leave to fight ISIS, have an exit plan.
