Basically the only thing we expect to be in our food is, well, food.

So when we find something else mixed in, we’d suspect it’s something that shouldn’t be there. But it didn’t happen that way for this girl in Japan.

Japanese Twitter user Romy Canecry bought a bag of fried scallop mantles from a convenience store as a snack to go with beer. As she put one into her mouth and chewed, she suddenly bit on a hard object.

At first, Romy thought that something must’ve fallen into the bag. But it turned out to be a big surprise: What was hidden inside was… a pearl!

Even more interesting was the warning on the packet, written in blue, cautioning customers to be careful when eating the product as there could  be pearls inside.

But if you think about, the hidden extra isn’t actually so surprising. Yeah, it’s rare, but it’s also completely natural.

So be careful next time you’re having a seafood snack.

Maybe you’ll be the next “lucky one” to get a gift from nature!
