You Have Never Seen the Sun Like This Before

On Feb. 11, 2010, NASA sent their Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) hurtling toward the Sun, which it has been observing and photographing ever since.

Five years on, NASA has made a video showcasing highlights from the SDO’s incredible pictures.

Images are captured around once per second, and they are very detailed and truly captivating.

You will see

  • Massive explosions
  • Giant clouds of solar material hurled out into space
  • Giant loops hovering in the corona
  • Huge sunspots growing and shrinking
  • Intense solar flares

Here’s a massive eruption:

This fiery looping rain is incredible:

I could watch this all day, it’s just amazing. Watching this footage, the Sun acts just like a gigantic, dynamic living entity.
