To keep healthy, it’s best to eat an abundance of fruit and veges. Which are best to eat?

Well, it’s good if you can eat all of them because they contain different vitamins and minerals that are vital for daily health.

Think of it as eating a rainbow a day—red, orange, yellow, green, and purple.

Eating all these colors will ensure you’re meeting your daily nutrient needs. Here’s how each different color helps…

1. Green

Go green and you will reap the benefits! Green fruit and vegetables are full of vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin A and C.

They contain chlorophyll, fiber, lutein, zeaxanthin, calcium, folate, and beta-carotene. These all help to prevent cancers, decrease growth dangers, maintain good eyesight, and lower cholesterol levels.

Red fruit and vegetables pack a nutritional punch. They are loaded with antioxidants, which soak up damaging free radicals.

Lycopene is an antioxidant found in red fruit and vegetables that helps reduce the risk of many cancers, such as prostate cancer.

Other supplements found in red vegetables and fruit are quercetin and hesperidin. These help circulation, diminish tumor development and bad cholesterol levels, eliminate free radicals, and relieve joint pain.

 

3. Blue and purple

The darker the fruit or vegetable, the more nutrients it contains. That’s why you should load up on your blue and purple fruits and vegetables.

They are full of anthocyanins which are antioxidants that fights free radicals, and can have anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and anti-cancer benefits. They can also lower the risk of heart disease, cancers, prevent memory loss from aging, keep your urinary tract, eyes and gums healthy, and lower the risk of stomach ulcers and gum disease.

 

4. Orange and yellow

Does your immune system need a boost? Well, dig into orange fruits and vegetables. They contain zeaxanthin which is an antioxidant, lycopene, flavonoids, vitamin C, potassium and beta-carotene or vitamin A.

All these nutrients help the body by aiding in eye health. They work with calcium and magnesium to build stronger bones, reduce the risk of prostate cancer, encourage pH balance of the body, lower bad cholesterol, promote healthy joints and collagen formation, and fight harmful free radicals in the body.

So stock up on all of nature’s goodness, and you won’t be visiting the doctors office.
