Speaking of a deserted village, most people might relate this to words like scary, bleak, aging, silent, creepy… In fact, it also can be lovely and vivifying, like this green village on one of China’s Shengsi Islands, part of the Zhoushan Archepelego.
The Shengsi Islands are located southeast of the Yangtze Delta. They consist over 400 islands at the intersection of the Qiantang River and the Yangtze River.
The Shengsi Islands are also called the ‘the fairy mountains in the sea.’
The villages on the Shengsi Islands were established by fishermen. On these islands, some of the villages gradually became deserted, as villagers moved to the inland. The uninhabited houses got eroded by nature bit by bit, covered with flourishing ivy. Now, this village has become a plant kingdom. A photographer by the name of Jane visited the island and took these photos of the cute green houses in the village.
