Do you remember your first day of school? I remember it very clearly, mostly because I was so excited to go to school as I had two older sisters who already went there, and I couldn’t wait to go. On my first day, they introduced us to the whole school, and I was just so happy to be going to school finally.
My sisters, on the other hand, didn’t have the best first day. They are twins, and they were introduced in front of the whole school and started crying.
Just like this little boy in the video. His name is Andrew Macias; he’s 4 and he’s starting pre-kindergarten for the first time.
KTLA reporter Courtney Friel asks the boy first if he’s excited about starting pre-kindergarten.
“Yes,” Andrew answers.
Then Friel asks him the saddest question: “Will you miss your mom?”
Trying to be brave he said: “No,” and short of shrugged his shoulders. But then couldn’t hold back the tears and started crying.
The reporter instantly feels really bad for asking him the question and says: “Oh, don’t cry.”
Andrew’s mum was standing near-by off camera, and was there to give him a big hug.
Courtney Friel, who has two beautiful children herself, feels so bad she tweeted this:
For the second day in a row I’m on “back to school” coverage—and I just made a pre-K kid cry—I feel awful about that! @KTLA 1,3,6pm 😢😥😹🙀
