If you have been concerned about the chemicals in most name brand hair care products, perhaps one of these natural methods to keep your hair beautiful will work for you.
1. Wash your hair with ‘beer water’ to keep it supple
Beer is slightly acidic which closes pores to make hair supple. Beer can also act as a hair conditioner as it contains nutrients from the fermentation process that are good for your hair.
To make beer water, heat a pot of water and pour in half as much beer by volume as the amount of water used. Soak, wash and rub your hair in the solution for 5 to 10 minutes.
2. For oily hair, wash with baking soda
Baking soda is highly alkaline. When dissolved in water it has degreasing properties so use a baking soda solution on oily hair, you won’t even need shampoo! In Europe many people replaced store-bought shampoo with their homemade baking soda solution.
To make the baking soda solution use 3/4 oz. of baking soda to a pint of water. Before adding the baking soda, pour hot water and then cool water to bring it to a lukewarm temperature. Baking soda dissolves more easily in water above 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
3. Condition with a vinegar solution to make your hair glossy
Apple cider vinegar is a weak acidic solution, so it can also keep your hair supple. Vinegar is made from the natural fermentation of sorghum, rice, corn and wheat, and as a result it contains more nutrients than many so-called nutritional hair products.
First put 4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar into a pint of warm water. Wash your hair normally then massage the vinegar solution through your hair for 10 minutes, rinse it with regular water and let the hair dry naturally. This will also slow hair loss.
4. Condition with ginger water to promote hair growth
Boil about 1/4 cup of thinly sliced unpeeled ginger in a pint of water and let it cool to lukewarm. Wash your hair with shampoo and rinse as usual then use the ginger water as a conditioner.
Ginger can stimulate hair growth and reduce hair loss. Another method is to add raw ginger juice directly to your shampoo.
5. Condition with lemon juice to make it fragrant and supple
Lemon juice can make your hair smell good, and it can also serve as a natural hair conditioner. Lemon juice has a PH value of 3, just a bit more acidic than ordinary hair conditioner.
In addition, lemon juice is rich in water-soluble vitamins, which promote blood circulation to the scalp which will accelerate hair growth.
After washing your hair with shampoo, pour the lemon juice from half a lemon onto your head and massage it in your hair for 1 to 3 minutes. Rinse afterwards.
