Jane told me that she wanted to sell her piano, but she would not sell it to me unless I went to see it first. I did not really need a piano, but whenever she had the chance, she would remind me about the piano. I finally paid her a visit with my husband.
When I walked into her house, a black upright piano immediately caught my eye, and I could not help but walk towards it. My fingers touched the keys, and I was impressed by the beautiful sound. I could not stop my tears from falling.
Twenty years ago, when I was a student majoring in music, my dream was to own a piano. At that time, my family could not afford a piano. I could only practise the piano in college, so I had to stay back late and get up early to use the piano room when it was free. My biggest dream at that time was to own a piano.
My husband saw my reaction to the piano, and realizing how much I wanted the piano, he bought it for me.
Later, Jane told me the story of this piano. Twenty years ago, she bought the piano on impulse. However, a few days later she had to leave the country for work and went overseas for almost a decade. When she finally came home, she was unable to play the piano anymore because she suffered from arthritis.
She had been searching for a buyer for her piano for a long time now because she wanted it to go to a good home.
“The very first I met you, for some reason, I knew this piano was for you. In fact, it has never been played by anyone else except you since it was bought. It has finally found its owner”
I met Jane several years ago over the Christmas break. My Chinese medical clinic was about to close for the Christmas break when she wandered in. I could see there was a problem with her leg. She told me that she was due to have her left leg amputated in two weeks because circulation had been blocked and her doctor had recommended amputation to prevent leg necrosis.
I examined her legs and found her left leg was very cold and almost purple. She told me that she was single and living by herself. Her parents had both passed away and she did not have any family members to look after her. How was she to look after herself if one of her legs was amputated?
I asked her to come to my clinic every day, and I treated her leg with Chinese medicine, acupuncture, and massage at the same time. After two weeks, her regular doctor examined her legs and was surprised to find that blood was flowing through her left leg again.
Two months later, she could walk freely and her pain was relieved. The doctor checked her blood flow every three months and found her leg was recovering. Her left leg was saved from amputation.
Later, the doctor discovered that she had been treated with Chinese medicine and said with a tinge of regret that doctors of Western medicine were too ignorant about the benefits of Chinese medicine.
Jane is very grateful because I saved her left leg, and I am also grateful to her because the piano she bought 20 years ago fulfilled my dream that I also had 20 years ago. I call this fate!
