Traditional Chinese medicine highly values the preventive properties of certain soups during the fall. As the old saying goes: “A bowl of soup in fall, and you will not need to see a doctor.”

When the weather cools down during autumn and the days get shorter and the nights colder, many people catch colds or feel ill in some way. Once a cold gets into a person’s body, it is very likely to impact the five internal organs. That’s where a soup comes into play. Temperature and humidity change during each season and you should follow the advice of traditional Chinese medicine and adjust your diet to complement the season.

Here are five soups to strengthen your body during the cold days of fall.

1. Tremella soup

This soup nourishes your body’s energy supply and blood. The most common symptom as the weather gets colder is a lack of energy. To offset this, here are three benefits of tremella soup.

Nourishes energy and blood — A soup with goji berries and red dates is just the thing to pick you up. A soup with these ingredients is rich in nutrients and nourishing energy that can easily be absorbed by the body.

Improves vision — During the fall months, people are most likely to suffer from “dry eye fatigue,” especially those who often stare at their mobile phones or computers. Eating tremella soup not only enhances the retinal resistance, but it also relieves the eyes of fatigue and thus can help improve vision.

Offsets the ‘sleepy Autumn’ syndrome — Sleepy Autumn basically describes the state that many people feel during the fall months, feeling tired or drowsy. Because tremella soup is so rich in vitamins, iron, and potassium, it can enhance the body’s inner system to help make it more resistant to viruses.

It can convert fat into heat and excrete it, and without the need for any specific diet routine.
