When your stool is too hard or too dry, it can be difficult to have a bowel movement. This is constipation. With modern living, everyone’s diet is quite rich and varied. People can eat what they want when they want. But the pace of life is also very fast nowadays. Oftentimes because of a busy lifestyle, three meals a day do not occur on a regular schedule or end up not providing sufficient nutritional quality. This causes a lot of people to suffer from constipation. Although constipation is not a disease, if it continues for long, the accumulation of toxins in the body can cause a lot of problems. Fortunately, there is an acupressure “treatment point” on the forearm. Pressing this point for two minutes daily can help to clear your constipation.

Harm from chronic constipation

1. Skin breakouts

With long-term constipation, the feces stays in the intestines. This causes a build-up of many toxins in the body. If the toxins are re-absorbed by your body, it will cause acne and breakouts as your body eliminates them through the skin.

2. Swelling

An accumulation of toxins in your body causes edema of the large intestine, giving you the appearance of having a big belly.

3. Body odor

The retention of toxins in your body can cause bad breath and body odor.

4. Painful menstrual periods

Chronic constipation goes hand in hand with straining to have a bowel movement. For women, this increased strain on the pelvic muscles can lead to painful menstruation.

5. Increased cancer risk

Long-term constipation has been linked to increased risk of colorectal cancer.

So, even though constipation is not a disease, the damage done to the body in the long term is considerable. The treatment of constipation varies depending on its underlying cause and duration. Possible solutions include — drinking enough fluid, taking a little more fiber, increasing exercise, and acupoint massage.

There is a “treatment point” on the forearm called Triple Warmer 6 (支沟穴). Triple Warmer 6 manages the blood flow of the body. It is found on the forearm, three inches above the wrist. It can treat a variety of conditions, including constipation, female breast milk blockage, chest pain, headache, and so on.

Massage this acupuncture point with your fingertips gently. When you experience a sore feeling, it is the beginning of action; massage the forearms for two minutes, one minute on each side. Doing this every day can help remove the accumulation of stool in your body, as well as helping other blockage related conditions to improve.
