    These monks are taking photos at the Shoton Festival during the unveiling ceremony in Drepung Monastery near Lhasa on August 25.

    The festival begins when a 598-square-yard painting or thangka of Buddha Sakyamuni is uncovered at first light. The event is known as “Buddha basking in the sun.”
