How ‘Ghostbusters’ Made New York City a Ghost Town

The Ghostbusters celebrate their 30th Anniversary this year. It was 1984 when the first Ghostbusters film came to theaters.

Award winning cartoons, a hit song, video games, comics, and toys came soon after, all inspired by the film.

New York City landmarks featured prominently in the film, which is why former Ghostbuster Ernie Hudson is leading us on a tour. There are many recognizable NYC locations in the film.

A less successful film, Ghostbusters II, was released in 1989. Ghostbusters III has been in the works since the 1990s. It is set to reboot the Ghostbusters property into the spotlight it once had, but constant delays and production changes leave a question on the film future of the Ghostbusters.
