It’s well known that the Aztecs performed human sacrifices, and some death whistles have been found with sacrificed victims.
Many experts believe the terrifying sounds of these death whistles were used to help transport the souls of those sacrificed into the afterlife.
The sounds produced by these whistles are truly blood-curdling. The noise sounds like humans howling in pain, spooky gusts of whistling wind, or the “screams of a thousand corpses.”
Experts also believe the Aztecs used dozens of death whistles in battle to unnerve, frighten, and intimidate their enemies.
After listening to this, I’d definitely be running the other direction.
