Some residents in Sipo Village in Zhengzhou City, China had a really rough December.
This rough: A woman in her late 60s and her whole family on December 21 were attacked in their home with buckets and buckets of feces.
The perpetrators were a group of over 30 men who broke into the house armed with hammers, sticks, and over a dozen buckets of excrement. Their purpose was to intimidate the residents to vacate their home. To get the message across they smashed windows, and covered everything (and everyone) in feces.
The buckets of feces were emptied on the bed, floors, and walls.
The elderly woman who tried to stop them from trashing the house was severely covered in excrement and to make matters worse the attackers came back the next day with more buckets of feces.
Several other villagers were attacked in a similar manner.
Why would a group of men attack these residents so viciously?
It appears – note: not a hundred percent confirmed – that the men were part of a local demolition team who wanted unwilling residents to move from their home so that developers can come in and build new ones. Actually it’s local Party officials who want to do the developing.
Reports say Sipo village is trying to be developed by the local government in Zhengzhou City. It’s part of a larger Urban Village Reconstruction Project where older run down neighborhoods are cleared away.
The government claims they knock them down for sanitary reasons (insert laughter at the irony here). The residents are typically compensated to move but many feel the compensation is not nearly enough to afford to relocate.
