One of Superman’s greatest foes, and one of the greatest adversaries in all of comics, Lex Luthor, has made his way onto the movie scene in a new promo photo.
He’ll appear in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. As far as what exactly he’ll be doing, or what anybody will be doing plotwise, nobody knows yet. The details should slowly unravel as DC sets to take on a dominant Marvel Cinematic Universe in the next few years.
Lex Luthor sets his eyes on movie stardom.
Director Zack Snyder made the peculiar decision to cast Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. You may remember Eisenberg in the role of a young Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network, or as the voice of Blu in Rio, among many other roles.
Snyder indicates he’s planning on taking this role in new directions. Let’s see how he interprets the power hungry, hair starved megavillain.
What’s clear at this point is his very bald, egg-like head, and the piercing stare of a man determined on causing havoc. As for what trouble he’s going to give our superheroes, we don’t know. But whatever it is, it’s bound to generate cause for Batman and Superman to swoop down and bring the pain.
At this point, at least, with no story story details confirmed, I’m holding no hopes for this film. It’s because DC is playing catch up to Marvel. This time not in the comics, but in the movies. Can DC expect to do any better here or will they maintain the status of forever standing on the shoulders of its two icons: Superman and Batman.
