A new wave of illness is sweeping across China, with hospitals in Henan, Anhui, and Guizhou overwhelmed by patients suffering from white lung, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. Though the death toll is rising, especially among the elderly, Chinese authorities have continued to remain mum.
Amid growing concerns, former Chinese journalist Lanjian Zhao has questioned whether this surge in cases is linked to vaccines. He urges the public to reflect on how to navigate a society where information is tightly controlled, and the media fails to report the truth.
Hospitals overwhelmed
Mr. Wang, a resident of Luohe, Henan, reported that many locals are suffering from severe coughs and fevers, with some experiencing full-body discomfort. As someone who frequently passes by the hospital on his way to work, he has witnessed the chaos firsthand.
“The hospital is overflowing with patients, and parking lots are completely full,” Wang said. “People are dying all the time, especially those in their sixties. This year, cancer cases seem unusually high. Among women, ovarian cancer is common — I personally know at least five or six cases. Among men, lung cancer is rampant, which I suspect is related to the vaccine.”

“Medical expenses are high, but sometimes, even spending money can’t save a life. Almost all the deaths I’ve seen were due to illness; natural deaths are rare.”
Ms. Wan, a villager from Jianhe County, Guizhou, described how the outbreak peaked after the Lunar New Year, with each village reporting at least two sudden deaths. Fearing infection, she and her family retreated to the mountains for several days.
“Both adults and children have died. This was no ordinary cold — the illness was severe,” Wan recalled. “On the tenth day of the Lunar New Year, I went to the hospital, and it was packed with patients. In the countryside, strokes have become increasingly common. People in their fifties and sixties are dying suddenly — if they aren’t found in time, they don’t make it.”
Additionally, Cheng Rui (pseudonym), a retired geologist from Anhui, reported an alarming number of deaths among elderly retirees in his community, many from white lung disease.
“Our provincial geological unit had around 400 to 500 retirees, but since the virus emerged in 2019, nearly half have died. Now, there are only about 200 to 300 left, mostly in their seventies and eighties. Just recently, another seven or eight passed away — all from white lung,” Cheng said. “These people were all Communist Party members, one hundred percent loyal to the government.”
Vaccine risks and information censorship
Beyond the collapsing healthcare system, concerns over vaccine safety have resurfaced. Independent investigator Lanjian Zhao revealed that an entire class of students at a primary school in Tianjin developed diabetes after receiving the Sinovac vaccine. These children now require lifelong insulin injections.
“As early as 2022, I discovered that at least 600 children in China had developed diabetes after vaccination. I desperately tried to alert the public, hoping more people would pay attention to this humanitarian disaster. However, mainstream media ignored it entirely and even deliberately censored the information,” Zhao said.
Even more alarming, he found that social media platforms, which should allow the free exchange of information, have become tools for suppressing public awareness.
“I attempted to search for my old posts on Twitter (X), only to find that the term ‘diabetes’ had been flagged as a sensitive word and was systematically blocked,” he explained, adding, “The purpose of this censorship is to erase history, making the truth impossible to trace.”
During the pandemic, Zhao repeatedly warned his friends about vaccine risks, only to face rejection.
“Whether in China or the United States, most people seem hypnotized, blindly accepting vaccination without allowing any dissenting voices.”
Even vaccine victims themselves refuse to acknowledge their deteriorating health.
“Those who were among the first to get vaccinated have already shown adverse reactions, yet they still refuse to admit the problem exists,” he lamented.
The media’s role in manipulating perception
Zhao argues that this crisis is not just about vaccines — it reflects the total collapse of the information ecosystem. He criticized the media for abandoning its duty to investigate, instead blindly echoing official narratives.
“When journalists cover vaccine-related issues, their attitudes reveal their cognitive limitations. These individuals, lacking any independent judgment, blindly believed in the vaccine’s safety and ultimately fell into the same health crisis themselves,” Zhao remarked.
“If they cannot even discern their own health risks, how can they accurately report on social issues?”
According to Zhao, media credibility is eroding due to blind conformity.
“When certain false narratives start spreading, people should ask themselves: Did most of these journalists get vaccinated? If so, it’s no surprise that they would believe, promote, or even fabricate absurd news.”
Furthermore, he noted that both Chinese and Western media serve different interest groups but operate with the same tactics.
“In China, journalists brainwash the public for the Communist Party. In the U.S., they rebrand themselves and continue working for another power bloc. Their rhetoric changes, but their essence remains the same.”
The battle for information
Zhao asserts that the chaos in both China and the U.S. is not due to ideological differences, but rather the work of interest groups manipulating information to maintain power and wealth.
“Chinese media brainwash people with nationalism, while Western media package their narratives under the guise of freedom and democracy. Their ultimate goal is the same: to ensure ordinary people comply without questioning or resisting,” he warned.
“The real battlefield is the information war. Whether it’s the vaccine disaster or the collapse of journalism, all these crises point to a single root cause — the systematic manipulation of public perception.”
He urges people to stay vigilant and critically evaluate information, rather than relying on a single source.
“This is not just about vaccines or media corruption — it is a reflection of the ongoing disintegration of our society’s cognitive framework.”
How to make it through the chaos
Faced with widespread misinformation, Zhao poses a crucial question: “Do we choose to be manipulated like sheep, or do we become individuals who seek and control the truth?”
He warns that artificial intelligence (AI) is emerging as a new factor in the information war.

“As human cognitive ability declines and AI’s influence grows, the key challenge is how we use AI to counter cognitive manipulation. If humanity fails to overcome its intellectual limitations, the future information world will be entirely governed by algorithms.”
While the future may seem chaotic and uncertain, Zhao insists that individuals still have the power to take control.
“The real question is: Will we remain passive victims of manipulation, or will we become individuals who seek and control the truth?”
