Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump unexpectedly dropped a bombshell at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. When discussing global economic risks and geopolitics, Trump, for the first time from a “satellite intelligence” perspective, revealed top-secret information the U.S. government possessed in the early days of the COVID-19 outbreak: Washington, long before the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officially acknowledged the situation, had already used high-tech means to witness the horrific scenes on the streets of Wuhan, with “body bags everywhere,” directly exposing the CCP’s long-constructed pandemic narrative.
The truth seen from satellites: body bags and abnormal deaths
On Jan. 21, Trump participated in a discussion with WEF President Børge Brende. When the topic touched on the economic challenges he faced during his first term, Trump shifted focus to the global-shaking “CCP virus” (COVID-19) pandemic.
Trump disclosed that U.S. intelligence agencies had, through satellite imagery, observed large-scale abnormal situations in Wuhan very early in the pandemic. He described that, although he could not specifically name the critical buildings, “around them and on the streets, we saw massive numbers of body bags, bodies everywhere.” This detail confirms that in early 2020, the U.S. government was able to act quickly because it possessed death counts and on-the-ground intelligence far beyond the CCP’s official reports.
Although the CCP has long denied the virus originated from a laboratory and refused to cooperate with international investigations, Trump’s remarks reinforced his consistent position: the virus leaked from a lab. Notably, as early as April last year, a report released on the White House website concluded that COVID-19 likely originated from a Wuhan lab leak, and Trump’s latest revelation adds concrete visual evidence to that conclusion.
Lies and the cost: the hidden golden window
Looking back to early 2020, the timeline reveals a shocking truth. On Jan. 23, 2020, Wuhan suddenly announced a lockdown without warning, plunging millions of residents into panic. On Jan. 31, 2020, the Trump administration, despite enormous political and diplomatic pressure, became the first to announce travel restrictions on China.

Wu Shaoping, head of the Overseas Chinese Human Rights Lawyers Alliance, pointed out that Trump’s decision demonstrated the accuracy of U.S. intelligence. In contrast, the CCP issued “gag orders” internally while publicly claiming the outbreak was “preventable and controllable.” Wu believes this stark contrast reflects the CCP regime’s core logic: when facing a major public health crisis, maintaining “regime stability” takes precedence over “human life” and “global safety.” For the sake of political face, the CCP missed the golden window to contain the virus, causing the world to pay a heavy price.
Public memory and the data black hole
Trump’s revelation of satellite intelligence also resurrected the truths ordinary Chinese citizens tried to share. In the early days of the outbreak, Wuhan citizen Fang Bin risked going to Wuhan Fifth Hospital and filmed a shocking 5-minute video showing staff removing eight bodies. Fang Bin was subsequently arrested and detained for a long period by the CCP authorities.
Furthermore, internal data from the funeral system completely shattered the official low death rate narrative. A staff member at a Hubei funeral home revealed to the media that on Feb. 3, 2020 alone, the facility received 127 bodies and cremated 116. By the end of 2022, during the pandemic surge, staff at large Shanghai funeral homes disclosed that daily cremations reached 400–500.
Yet, as of Dec. 23, 2022, CCP official data claimed only 5,241 cumulative deaths in all of China—an absurd contrast to satellite intelligence, eyewitness accounts, and funeral anomalies.
Strategic implications: international accountability and internal awareness
Taiwan’s National Defense and Security Research Institute researcher Shen Mingshi analyzed that Trump’s decision to reveal Wuhan’s pandemic secrets now carries deep dual strategic significance: it awakens internal memory and undermines CCP legitimacy. China is currently facing a demographic collapse, with “empty villages” appearing in many urban and rural areas, and unusual drops in population data raising public suspicion.
If the U.S. further systematically discloses the real death counts and satellite evidence from the pandemic, it is bound to trigger massive backlash and anger within Chinese society, shaking the CCP’s ruling foundation.
Increasing International Accountability Pressure: As more ironclad evidence, such as satellite imagery, comes to light, the CCP’s responsibility for concealing the truth early in the pandemic—leading to millions of deaths worldwide—has become an unavoidable international issue. Against the backdrop of China’s deteriorating economic environment and foreign capital withdrawal, the push for “virus truth” will further isolate Beijing on the world stage.
Trump’s unexpected revelations not only serve as a historical correction but may also signal a new round of international pressure holding the CCP accountable for the pandemic.
