A honeymoon planned at the wedding

Recently, a newly married couple from Chongqing, China, unexpectedly chose to travel to war-torn Ukraine for their honeymoon. During the trip, they delivered daily necessities to children and the elderly in local refugee camps, drawing attention from netizens.

According to social media reports, a young couple from Chongqing selected Ukraine as their honeymoon destination. After a long journey, they arrived in Ukraine and carried out charitable activities, delivering daily necessities to refugees, children, and the elderly. The move was surprising. While others usually choose romantic places to enjoy sweetness during their honeymoon, they went to a place of hardship and cold to offer love and support.

According to the woman in the video, at their wedding ceremony last month, they had already told everyone that they would choose Ukraine as their honeymoon destination to do something meaningful. More than ten days ago, they fulfilled their promise to each other and set off. Because of the special period, Ukraine has canceled civil aviation, so they could only take a high-speed train from Chongqing to Chengdu, then fly from Chengdu to Turkey, then to Moldova, and finally take a bus into Ukraine.

The woman also said that it was the first time in five years that the two of them had traveled abroad together, and they chose a country at war for their honeymoon, going to a very dangerous place. The man said, “My wife said she married a fool… She said that at the most important moment in life, she should come with me.”

Aid distribution in a church shelter

On the mainland Douyin platform, the couple posted several videos through the account “Hotpot Couple.” In the videos, they said that after arriving in Ukraine, many of their original concerns were dispelled. They received a great deal of proactive and enthusiastic help from many unfamiliar Ukrainians. The war is cruel, but the Ukrainian people still maintain gentleness, kindness, enthusiasm, and civility. True human hearts are never in public opinion or in positions, but in unhesitating goodwill.

The videos show that the couple, together with local Chinese friends, went to a refugee shelter at a local church and brought Chinese gifts and a large amount of supplies purchased locally to Ukrainian refugees there. These included Chinese knots, food, children’s toys, and other items. From the elderly to children, everyone received something.

Online praise and political undertones

Mainland netizens expressed support for the couple: “Young people with proper values,” “Such a honeymoon is very meaningful,” “Applause for your sense of justice! All Chinese people who love peace will support Ukraine,” “Well done, brave young people, justice belongs to Ukraine,” “Please convey the respect of the Chinese people to the Ukrainian people.”

Users on X also left comments: “They will remember such a honeymoon for a lifetime,” “Other people’s honeymoon is to see the scenery, their honeymoon is to become the scenery. Choosing to go to the hardest place at the sweetest time, who wouldn’t admire such love? Blessings, truly blessings,” “With great love in their hearts,” “This is slapping the Chinese Communist Party in the face!”
