There was a pair of twin sisters living in Utah, in a community where many residents were members of the Mormon Church. Because most people in their area went to church and there were relatively few cars on the road, their commute was usually quick. They started work at 6 a.m., and thanks to the light traffic, it only took them about seven minutes to drive to their company.
On the morning of Aug. 6, 2017, at around 5:50 a.m., the sisters were driving to work together. It seemed like an ordinary morning—just like any other—but what happened next was completely unexpected. After about four minutes of driving, they reached a four-lane intersection. The light had just turned yellow. Since it was a holiday and the roads were empty, they didn’t slow down or stop. The older sister, who was driving, decided to accelerate and go through before it turned red.
At that moment, the younger sister noticed a police car parked by the intersection and shouted, “There’s a cop at the corner!” Startled, the older sister slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to a sudden stop. Seeing that nothing had happened, they both breathed a sigh of relief, thinking they had avoided trouble. Then, the police car’s light turned green—it drove through the intersection right in front of them and then pulled over on the roadside ahead, very close to where they were.
The older sister said nervously, “The police car stopped—he’s going to pull us over!” They both stared at the car, anxious about getting a ticket. The older sister suggested, “Maybe I should just turn right instead of driving past him.” But the younger sister objected, “No! Turning now would look too suspicious.” They agreed to keep driving straight, and the younger sister kept her eyes fixed on the police car.
But as they passed the spot where the police car had stopped, it suddenly vanished before their eyes. It didn’t drive away, it didn’t turn—within the blink of an eye, it simply disappeared. Both sisters were stunned, completely speechless at what they had just witnessed.

After a few moments of confusion, they continued driving straight along their usual route to work—which was a completely straight road. Suddenly, out of nowhere, three fully grown deer ran right in front of their car. The older sister slammed on the brakes again, nearly hitting them. But just like the police car, the three deer disappeared instantly. The younger sister had been watching the road closely the whole time and was certain she couldn’t have missed even one deer—let alone three appearing and vanishing at once.
In all eight years they had lived there, they had never seen deer on that road. Their neighborhood was an urban area, not a place where deer were known to appear. Seeing even one would have been strange—three at once was unthinkable. That day felt deeply unsettling and inexplicably strange from start to finish—an eerie experience that remains a mystery to them both to this day.
