On Thursday, Feb. 5 the Trump administration officially announced the launch of a new prescription drug discount website called “TrumpRx.” The White House stated that the platform aims to help the public purchase prescription medications at more affordable prices, easing financial pressure on patients amid rising living costs.
According to WCNC News, TrumpRx does not sell drugs directly. Instead, it functions as an information platform that guides consumers to the purchase pages open to individuals on major pharmaceutical companies’ websites.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt posted on X that TrumpRx is “a state-of-the-art website for American consumers to buy low-cost prescription drugs.”
On Thursday evening, President Donald Trump, alongside Dr. Mehmet Oz, head of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and Joe Gebbia, director of the National Design Studio and Airbnb co-founder, jointly announced the news at the White House.

16 global pharmaceutical companies sign ‘most-favored-nation’ agreements
The Trump administration facilitated agreements with 16 major global pharmaceutical companies under a “most-favored-nation” pact, in which these companies agreed to lower drug prices in exchange for tariff exemptions. According to the agreement, pharmaceutical companies will reduce prices not only in the government Medicaid system but also offer discounted prices to consumers purchasing drugs directly via the TrumpRx website.
Companies signing the agreement include Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Merck, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Eli Lilly, and Novo Nordisk.
A key focus of the cooperation is price negotiations for currently popular GLP-1 weight-loss drugs. The government stated that the average monthly price for these medications will fall to between $149 and $350, significantly easing patients’ financial burden.
Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk also confirmed that these drugs are now sold directly to consumers through multiple channels, accounting for more than 10 percent of the companies’ total sales for these medications. Novo Nordisk’s new oral drug Wegovy launched last month and is currently sold exclusively through direct channels, with insurance coverage still pending.
Reuters reported that American patients typically pay nearly three times more for prescription drugs than other developed countries. The Trump administration continues to push for reform and negotiate with pharmaceutical companies to bring U.S. drug prices closer to international standards and improve affordability.

Various common medications included on TrumpRx
In addition to weight-loss drugs, the TrumpRx website also features a range of common prescription medications, including:
- Merck’s diabetes drug Januvia
- Sanofi’s anticoagulant Plavix
- GSK’s asthma inhaler Advair Diskus 500/50
- Amgen’s cholesterol-lowering drug Repatha
- Gilead’s hepatitis C drug Epclusa
With TrumpRx officially online, American consumers now have more affordable options for purchasing prescription medications.
