What began as a busy working mother’s frustration with unfinished cleaning jobs has grown into one of the Hudson Valley’s most trusted cleaning companies. Founded by Sgro, OCD Cleaning Services now provides residential and commercial cleaning services across Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, and Dutchess counties, serving families, property owners, and businesses throughout the region.
“I’m a mom, a wife—I have two boys, 19 and 14,” Sgro shared. “My husband and I were both working full time, the boys were in sports, and I didn’t have time to clean the way I wanted to.” After repeatedly hiring cleaners and finding herself redoing the work, her husband finally said, “It’s never going to be up to your standard. You should start a cleaning company.”
She laughed at first—but the idea stuck. “I put an ad on Craigslist—kind of sketchy,” she said with a smile. “Little by little, people started calling. Nights and weekends, I was out cleaning.”
OCD Cleaning Services officially became an LLC in May 2022, though Sgro had already spent about a year cleaning on her own. Today, the company has grown into a 10-person team, serving families, property managers, Airbnb hosts, and commercial clients throughout the Hudson Valley.

A name with meaning
The name OCD Cleaning Services is both personal and intentional. “OCD stands for Obsessive Cleaning Disorder,” Sgro explained. “My son once said, ‘Mom, you’re so OCD,’ when I made him redo the bathroom. And I thought—that’s the perfect name.”

That mindset defines the company’s culture. “We are detail-driven every time,” she said. “We notice things that most people would pass or not even see. That’s what sets us apart.”
OCD Cleaning Services offers a full range of cleaning solutions, including standard and deep cleans, move-in and move-out services, Airbnb and rental cleanings, post-construction cleanups, property management services, and both residential and commercial cleaning—each tailored to the client’s space and needs.
Trust comes first
At the heart of the company is a stable, long-term team. “I have nine full-time cleaners and one overnight cleaner,” Sgro said. “The people who are with me have been with me a long time.”
Consistency matters. “If we clean a home weekly, the same people go every time. It makes a huge difference,” she explained. “Some of our clients have become like family. We’re in their personal space—we have their keys, their codes. That level of trust is everything.”
Some clients have been with her since the very beginning. “I have people who trusted me when I was cleaning their house by myself at eight o’clock at night after work—and they’re still with us today.”
To maintain quality across a wide service area, Sgro stays hands-on. “I do spot checks. We have team leaders who do final walk-throughs, and everyone checks each other’s work,” she said. “After scrubbing all day, you can miss something—so we double-check. Quality control is huge.”
Giving time back
Most OCD Cleaning Services clients are busy families. “What I hear over and over is, ‘We’re tired,’” Sgro said. “They don’t want to spend six to ten hours on the weekend cleaning. That’s another work shift.”
“Our biggest thing is giving people their free time back,” she said. “Time with their kids, their family—that matters.”

Rooted in the community
Beyond cleaning, Sgro is deeply involved in the community. She has helped organize fundraisers through the Pine Bush Chamber, including a major event benefiting the Walden Humane Society, and has volunteered with organizations such as the Center for Safety & Change.
“You don’t always have to give money,” she said. “Showing up, volunteering your time, being present—that’s important.”
Her love for animals is especially close to her heart. “All four of my dogs are adopted,” she shared, recounting the story of Chan, a rescue dog from Puerto Rico who survived severe abuse. “He went through horrible things and is still the most loving animal. That kind of resilience—that stays with you.”
Staying the course
Sgro recently made a major leap—leaving her full-time job while running the business. “Up until March or April 2025, I was working 50 hours a week at a solar company while running OCD,” she said.
“My proudest moments have been pushing through the tough times,” she said. “People don’t always see the late nights, the setbacks, or the financial risks behind the scenes. But our mission, our standards, and our pride in our work have never dropped.”
Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is simple and honest: “Go hard. Be your biggest supporter. You’re going to fail—learn from it and keep moving forward. Just don’t give up on yourself.”
For Sgro, OCD Cleaning Services is more than a business—it’s proof that perseverance, care, and high standards can turn everyday work into something meaningful. “I never imagined I’d be here,” she said. “But I’m grateful every day.”
