A craft shaped by experience
For Dany, screen printing is not just a job—it is a craft he has been developing since childhood. “Since I was 12 years old… I started seeing this job and liked everything about it,” he said. What began with simple tasks like “cleaning screens and tools” in Guatemala soon became a passion.
After moving to the United States, Dany eventually returned to the field “I started working part time, doing the screen printing in Rockland County, New York,” he recalled. Over the years, he worked in several companies, building both technical skills and industry knowledge over 20 years.
One of his most formative experiences came when he joined a small business started by his former manager. What started as a basement operation gradually grew into a business employing approximately 25 people. “I was heavily involved in the day-to-day operations and overall movement of the company,” Dany explained “That experience taught me not only about screen printing, but also about managing and growing a business.” Watching the company develop from the ground up provided invaluable insight that would later inspire his own entrepreneurial journey.
A leap during uncertain times
RM Screen Printing was born out of necessity during the pandemic. When the company Dany worked for was sold, he suddenly found himself without a job. “We literally did not have another option,” he said. “That’s when we decided to open our own company.”
At the same time, Miriam had stepped away from her job in healthcare while pregnant with their second child. “I was three months pregnant… we didn’t know what was happening with the virus,” she said. I have never been so scared of not knowing what tomorrow would bring. Most importantly she added, scared of our children’s future. Scarlett who was 3 years old at that time and Nathan born August of 2020. She was a stay-at-home mother for a little over a year, she later joined Dany when the business launched in 2021. “Everything has been history after that.” she said.

The early days were financially challenging. “We gathered our savings… we bought used machines,” Dany explained. As demand grew, so did expenses. “We needed to invest in new machines… hiring people… that was the hardest part.” Without established business credit, the couple relied on family support. We are so blessed to have a family that believed in us and our dream, the couple added.
Earning trust through quality
Despite the challenges, RM Screen Printing quickly found its footing. Many of Dany’s former clients returned after experiencing issues elsewhere. “They contacted me and said, ‘Dany, I need you to print this for me,’” he said.
Locally, Miriam helped grow the business through relationships and referrals. “Everything has been word of mouth,” she said, connections with schools, small businesses, and the Middletown Police Department.
The couple attributes their success to a personalized approach. “I always say… the friendly environment,” Dany explained. “People feel more confident when they can talk to someone and get feedback.” Instead of simply fulfilling orders, they guide customers toward better results. “If we know that it’s not gonna look good… I will tell you, ‘let’s do it this other way.’”
Attention to detail is central to their process. “You have to be very careful with everything… checking consistently every step,” Dany said. Miriam added, “We never let anything leave our shop without a quality check… I have to approve it, he has to approve it.”
Their roles are clearly defined: Miriam manages office operations and customer communication, while Dany leads production. “He’s the man that… will make the customers’ ideas come to life,” she said.
Growing with the community
Beyond business, RM Screen Printing is deeply connected to the community it serves. The company supports local schools, police events, and nonprofit initiatives through sponsorships and donations.
One especially meaningful project was working with The Wall That Heals, a traveling Vietnam veterans memorial. “We sponsor the project… they did a lot of T-shirts for that,” Miriam said. The business also contributes to youth programs and community events throughout Middletown.
“Everything has worked out with people we’ve met along the way,” Miriam reflected. “We have built strong relationships with so many wonderful people.” These relationships have been key to the company’s steady growth.
Looking ahead, Dany and Miriam hope to expand their reach while maintaining their hands-on approach. “We want to be the printer in the area… the one to go and also be a recognized name nationally,” Dany said.
For Dany, the motivation remains simple and consistent. “Seeing our customers happy with their products brings me great joy. It not only makes me proud, but also grateful for the opportunity to do what I love every day.”
