Gan Jing World (GJW+) hosted a lively Movie Night and new film premiere on Saturday, May 16 evening in Middletown, NY, bringing together families, children, and community members for a night of entertainment, food, and interactive activities.
The event, held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 11-31 Fulton Street, featured booth games, a food night market, animation screenings, and the premiere of the new film “Symphony of Light and Shadow,” produced by NTD and streaming exclusively on GJW+. The story centers on teenage friendship, self-discovery, family values, and personal growth.
‘A good opportunity to give back to the community’
Dr. Sherry Yin, CEO of Gan Jing World, said the event was designed to connect with the local community and highlight the platform’s family-focused content.
“Gan Jing World started in 2022 in Middletown, New York. I think it’s a very good opportunity for us to give back to the community,” she said.
She emphasized that the platform focuses on safe, family-friendly content, especially for children.

“We are about family safety. We have GJW Kids… it’s a very safe kids platform, not only for entertainment and fun, but also for learning,” Yin said. “Kids can learn language, Chinese, English, traditional culture, science and math, and different programs.”
Yin added that the goal is to provide both entertainment and education in a safe digital environment. “There are a lot of educational programs there… it’s the number one safe kids platform.”
A film about growth and life choices
Speaking about Symphony of Light and Shadow, Yin said she preferred not to disclose too much of the storyline.
“I don’t want to disclose anything,” she said. “It’s really about how villagers grow, which path they choose, what inner strength they want in their life. It’s about two young girls and how they choose to live their life when they face challenges and difficulties.”
When asked why Gan Jing World chose themes such as friendship, family values, and personal growth, Yin pointed to broader societal changes.
“I think that’s what the world is right now… there’s always geopolitical issues, and AI brings a lot of uncertainty,” she said. “At this time, Gan Jing World wants to bring to everybody what’s the value for every one of us in chaotic times, and how we handle challenges outside and internal.”
She added that the platform aims to share cultural and educational content without pressure.
“It’s not just about instant satisfaction. There’s a lot of good cultural programs… people can find the beauty from these programs and bring it back to their lives to live a good life.”
Building community connections
On community engagement, Yin said Gan Jing World encourages users to explore and connect through shared interests.
“We encourage everybody to create an account on Gan Jing World… feel free to explore and find your community,” she said. “There are many people establishing groups for travel, food, family, and education.”
She also emphasized user privacy and safety.
“We really value privacy… nobody is allowed to check user data… everything is according to strict compliance to protect user privacy.”
Families and children enjoy the night
Attendees also shared their experiences at the event.
Two children, Hina and Aaron, said they were most excited about the food.
“Most exciting program… snacks,” they said, laughing. “Snacks, that is the most popular.”
Another young attendee, Coral (14), said she was looking forward to the games. Catherine (9) also said, “the games in general… any prizes.”
A local parent, Richard Yin, said he attended after hearing about the event from a friend.
“The movie, yeah. I was told by a friend to come over here and watch a movie,” he said.
When asked about his preferences, he added, “I like adventure movies more,” and pointed to the activities: “The first one, the top one.”
He also noted the importance of such community events.
“Family work organizes care activities more often, so it can bring more people in local area to know about your business, know about the purpose of this company.”
Platform highlights and closing remarks
During the event, the MC introduced GJW+ as a platform offering “over 10,000 movies, documentaries, and shows,” including exclusive titles not available elsewhere.
The evening concluded with the premiere screening of “Symphony of Light and Shadow,” followed by continued games and social activities, leaving families with a shared experience of entertainment and community connection.
