What began as a side job nearly four decades ago grew into a lasting business built on dedication, relationships, and pride in the craft of cleaning.
From a side job to a true passion
Tom Andryshak Sr. never planned for cleaning to become his lifelong career. In 1988, while working as a facilities director at a school district, he was simply looking for additional income to support his family.
“I was just looking for part-time work at night,” Tom recalled. “I was done at 3:30 in the afternoon, and I thought I could work another job.”
He began knocking on doors and offering cleaning services to local businesses. His first office account eventually became the foundation of Classic Cleaning and Maintenance Services.
“At the beginning, it was just a part-time job. I didn’t have that passion yet,” Tom said. “But then I discovered the world of cleaning and carpet cleaning, and the people that are in my life. It’s just amazing.”

Over time, what started as extra work became something more meaningful.
“Why clean? It is so rewarding,” he said. “It’s instant gratification. When you clean something and see it become neat and clean, you feel that accomplishment.”
Serving the Hudson Valley with experience and care
Today, Classic Cleaning has grown into a team of about 14 employees serving homes and businesses across the Hudson Valley, including Warwick, Middletown, Goshen, Monroe, and surrounding communities.
“If you put a thumbtack in Florida, New York, we have about a one-hour radius,” Tom explained. “We go to Poughkeepsie, New Paltz, and all across the Hudson Valley.”
Tom credits the company’s longevity to experience, strong relationships, and consistency in quality.
“We have almost 40 years of experience, and I’ve had my vendors and the people that we work with — we have relationships with them,” he said. “That makes us different.”
For him, modern cleaning is also highly technical work.
“We put a lot of leg work into making sure it’s the best product for what we need,” he said. “Cleaning today isn’t just cleaning. It’s the science behind it.”

‘We don’t clean carpets, we save carpets’
Carpet restoration remains one of Tom’s favorite parts of the business. Instead of defaulting to replacement, he focuses on restoring what can still be saved.
“We don’t clean carpets, we save carpets,” Tom said.
He recently helped restore a heavily stained carpet for an elderly couple in Goshen, a moment that stayed with him.
“They were just so happy,” he said. “I like when everybody’s happy.”
Always learning, always improving
Even after decades in the industry, Tom continues to learn and adapt. Classic Cleaning has invested in advanced equipment, including a water filtration window system that allows glass to be cleaned from the ground without chemicals or ladders.
“It keeps us off ladders,” he said. “I can do four stories from the ground. It’s amazing.”
For homeowners, Tom emphasizes simple maintenance and careful product use.
“Regular vacuuming definitely keeps things clean,” he said.
He also warns against over-the-counter cleaning products that can cause long-term damage.
“Don’t buy over-the-counter spot cleaners — it can ruin your carpet,” Tom said. “We’re a phone call away. Whether you use us or not, we can help.”
A legacy built on service
Looking ahead, Tom hopes to continue doing what has sustained his business for nearly 40 years: serving customers and taking pride in the results.
“I just like seeing people happy with the results,” he said. “That’s what’s kept me going.”
What began as a side job nearly four decades ago became a career defined by consistency, care, and quiet craftsmanship — and a business still rooted in the same principle that started it all: doing the job right, and doing it well.
