Every two and a half centuries, a milestone like America’s 250th Birthday does not come around very frequently. As we celebrate this special year, I am reminded of Benjamin Franklin’s famous words: “A republic, if you can keep it.”

One of the key drivers of that persistent, never-ending, always active undertaking to maintain that republic is a government that responds to the needs of the many—not the needs of the few.

At the core of our mission is being as responsive to the people in our community as humanly possible, never putting forward and prioritizing special interests, the needs of the few, or the needs of the one, and always putting forward the interests of the many—the public interest. That is what we do every single day.

This commitment to public service and serving the community continues to guide our work as we move forward.

As we all celebrate the 250th anniversary of this great nation, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude and pride. Very few generations are fortunate enough to witness a milestone of this magnitude, and it is a true privilege to celebrate 250 years of freedoms, opportunities, and the enduring spirit that define our nation.

This anniversary is more than a commemoration of our past—it’s a reminder of the sacrifices made by generations of Americans to preserve the liberties we enjoy today, and a call for each of us to do our part in protecting them for generations to come.

It’s an honor to celebrate this remarkable chapter in our nation’s history. I encourage everyone to celebrate, remember our history, enjoy time with family, and take part in the wonderful celebrations happening throughout our communities.

The 250th birthday of America is a momentous event. It’s especially meaningful to me personally as I am a summer baby myself—I’ll be turning 50 this July 20, so it feels special to celebrate alongside the country.

Commerce and business have always gone hand in hand as part of the American fabric. Businesses and communities continue to build on what we have, working to improve and grow together—just as we do at the Chamber.

To local residents, I encourage everyone to come out, enjoy the celebrations, take part in local activities and displays, and celebrate and support our community and our country.

My hope for the future is that we continue to work together in supportive ways, helping each other and making things better for everyone.

Libraries embody American values by offering free equal access to information and lifelong education. As the nation marks its 250th anniversary, local libraries that are members of the Ramapo Catskill Library System and their governing boards are continuing this legacy by anchoring civic community engagement.

Libraries serve as inclusive spaces where community members gather to converse, learn, and preserve our shared history. I am proud to work collaboratively with my colleagues locally and nationally to accomplish this mission.

It’s very exciting that we’re fortunate enough to live in a country where we get to have all the rights and the beautiful things that we have in our lives… we have a government that can support our children with special needs, and we hope that that continues.

I’m very grateful. I sit in the morning in my yard to start the day, and I just look around. We live a good life here in Milford, and I’m very happy to be here.

I come from a family of service… We love to give back and feel obligated to serve our communities.

Take the time to look around your community and see where volunteers are needed. It’ll be good for you, it’ll be good for them.

As we celebrate America’s 250th Birthday, we don’t simply honor a date in history, we honor an idea.

An idea that ordinary people, through determination, sacrifice, and courage, can build something extraordinary.

That same spirit lives on today in America’s small businesses.

Every morning, small business owners unlock their doors with hope. They take risks, create jobs, mentor young people, support community events, donate to fundraisers, and invest in the neighborhoods they proudly call home. They are the heartbeat of Main Street and the backbone of the American economy.

At HV Business Link, we have the privilege of witnessing this every single day.

Behind every small business is a story—a family pursuing the American Dream, a veteran opening a second career, an immigrant building a legacy, a young entrepreneur believing in an idea, or a parent sacrificing long hours to create a better future for their children.

These stories remind us that America has always been built by people willing to work hard, believe in opportunity, and serve something greater than themselves.

Small businesses embody the very principles upon which this nation was founded. The Hudson Valley is filled with these everyday heroes whose impact is felt every day through local businesses and community connections.

America’s 250th Birthday is a celebration of freedom, but it is also a reminder of responsibility—to support one another, mentor the next generation, and continue building communities where opportunity is available to everyone willing to pursue it.

At HV Business Link, we believe connections are about more than exchanging business cards—it is about strengthening the communities we all share.

Thank you to every small business owner for believing in your dream, serving your neighbors, and keeping the American spirit alive.

Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸

There’s no better place in the world. It’s a great country. The founding fathers did amazing with the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. They did an amazing job and freedoms that no one else has.

It’s important to be part of the community. We try our best to support the community and lift up the whole community.

The founding fathers sacrificed so much. The more we revisit the past, it helps us for the future and the way we care for each other. We have to remember our history so we can do better.

The 250th anniversary of America means a great deal. It shows that we live in a strong nation—one that has been able to stand for 250 years. That makes me proud, knowing this country has endured and will continue to thrive for many more years.

Our strength comes from being a multicultural nation. This country has been built from many different backgrounds, religions, and nationalities, and that diversity is a key reason why it has remained so strong. It is something we should continue to value as we move forward.
