When you drive along NY-17M in Middletown, New York, you’ll find a shop that has become a quiet powerhouse of reliability, hard work, and community spirit—Palma Tire Inc. Located at 484 NY-17M, this family-owned business isn’t just about tires. It’s about vision, persistence, and proving that with dedication, family unity, and a plan, dreams can roll into reality.
Juan Palma, Territory Sales Manager and business partner, remembers the early days. “We actually started in 2015 with just a van, doing road service,” he recalled. “There was nobody here in our town doing the kind of tire work we knew how to do. We saw the need, and we jumped in.”
More than just a tire shop
Palma Tire has built its reputation on being different. “We’re not just regular mechanics or tire guys—we’re tire professionals,” Juan explained. Their expertise covers everything from small wheelbarrow tires to massive industrial loader tires. In fact, other shops in the area often send specialty jobs their way.
That focus on all things tires sets them apart. Whether it’s farm equipment, forklifts, tractor trailers, or specialty low-profile tires, Palma Tire has become the go-to expert. “If it has a tire, we can handle it,” Juan said with pride.

Family at the core
The company is rooted in family values. Juan runs the business alongside his uncle, Santiago Palma, and Santiago’s children. The family dynamic is both their foundation and their strength.
“We keep business and family separate,” Juan noted. “From eight to five, we’re Palma Tire. After hours, we’re family again.” That balance helps them remain professional while also enjoying the closeness of working side by side.
Facing challenges, staying strong
Like every small business, Palma Tire has faced its share of challenges—slow winter seasons, competition from online retailers, and the economic downturn during the pandemic. Yet they pushed through with persistence.
Even during COVID-19, when road traffic slowed and tire demand dropped, they kept the doors open as an essential business. “It was hard, but we kept going,” Juan said. “We stayed committed to serving the community.”
Built on trust and community spirit
For Palma Tire, reputation means everything. Customers praise their reliability, speed, and professionalism. “If we say we’ll be there, we’ll be there,” Juan emphasized. “Fast, clean, and safe—that’s how we work.”
Much of their growth has come from word of mouth and social media, powered by satisfied customers. At the same time, Palma Tire gives back—sponsoring local youth football, cheerleading, and baseball teams, and supporting community programs.
“We’re part of this community,” Juan said. “It’s important to help each other.”
Looking ahead
This December marks 10 years for Palma Tire—a milestone Juan is especially proud of. “From starting small with just a van to now, it shows what happens when you stick to your plan and keep going.”
Looking forward, the family has big goals: expanding into new locations and serving more communities across New York State. Today, their service area already stretches from Milford, PA to Danbury, CT, and from the Tappan Zee Bridge up to Kingston and Liberty.
Lessons for the next generation
When asked what advice he would give to young people dreaming of starting their own business, Juan’s answer was simple and direct: “There’s so much opportunity out there. Come up with a plan, and go for it. Don’t just sit and wonder if it’s a good idea—execute it. And give it 100 percent effort.”
His story proves that persistence, family unity, and hard work can truly pay off.
Palma Tire Inc. isn’t just a tire shop—it’s a story of family, resilience, and the belief that dreams can take you far if you keep moving forward.
