How the Chinese Communist Party Destroys Its Own: The Falls of Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli

A precision-engineered killing machine

The political downfall of Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of the Chinese Communist Party’s Central Military Commission (CMC), and Liu Zhenli, chief of the PLA General Staff, first stunned the world—and then filled it with dread. These were men at the apex of power, commanding troops and entrusted with the Party’s guns. How could Xi Jinping remove them so easily?

Amid the global shock and speculation, it is worth examining something deeper: how the Chinese Communist Party’s state apparatus systematically brainwashes people—including its own inner-circle elites—and turns them into objects that can be crushed at any moment, often without their even realizing they have long been marked for disposal.

Let us set aside, for now, the poisonous oath every Party member must swear upon joining—vowing to dedicate everything, including one’s life, to the Party. Instead, let us look plainly at the CCP’s methods of brainwashing, which exceed anything normally associated with human societies.

The propaganda system’s core function: formatting human beings

The CCP’s propaganda apparatus—centered on the Central Propaganda Department—is not, and has never been, a news organization. It is a reality-editing bureau. Its core function is not to report facts, but to edit reality: selecting, deleting, revising, and ultimately fabricating what passes for truth.

In a normal society, news follows a basic sequence: events occur, journalists investigate, facts are reported. In China, the sequence is inverted: political judgment first, selective cutting second, forced feeding last.

The Central Propaganda Department acts as the system’s anesthesiologist. Any truth that threatens the regime is suffocated. Anything that burnishes the Party’s “great, glorious, and correct” image is amplified without limit. Every headline you read, every trending topic you see, is a carefully calibrated dose of “prescription medicine.” This is not information—it is a psychological narcotic.

Its effect is to sever your perception of reality, trapping you inside a vast Truman Show. For example, support expressed by the United States, Japan, or Taiwan for the Chinese people has never appeared in the CCP’s propaganda system. Instead, citizens are trained to hate, curse, and attack these external actors.

Terrifying as this may sound, stripped of rhetoric the truth is simple: this system is an efficient killing machine.

Its first step is to construct a false reality through lies, amputating logic and conscience—performing a kind of prefrontal lobotomy on the human mind. You are reduced to a body that obeys commands. The second step comes once you have lost all independent personality and become perfect “consumable material”: your physical body can then be eliminated at any time, according to the Party’s needs.

This is an industrial slaughter line that runs from soul to flesh.

Stage one: the massacre of the mind

The trinity of fear

This machine operates through three tightly interlocked components, forming a closed loop of control:

  • Central Propaganda Department (the brain): defines “correct memory” and dictates what you must believe.
  • Cyberspace Administration of China (the cleaner): erases all “incorrect noise,” making dissenters disappear from the digital world.
  • State Security and Public Security organs (the butcher): apply physical intimidation to those who still dare not believe.

Together, they form a complete ecosystem of domination. The Propaganda Department ensures you do not know; the Cyberspace Administration ensures you cannot see; state security ensures you do not dare think. In this hyperbaric chamber of repression, independent thought is forcibly stripped away.

This machine does not merely control the media—it controls every sensory入口 into your life. From picture books in kindergarten to school textbooks; from film censorship to Douyin’s algorithmic recommendations; from the celebrities you follow to the games you play. It is a 24-hour ideological supply chain that silently rewrites your values, your views on marriage, and your understanding of history.

You are taught that “loving the country is above human nature,” that “obedience is virtue.” This is not the dissemination of opinions. It is the implantation of a virus in your brain—one that makes you allergic to freedom and hostile to democracy.

Stage two: manufacturing zombies

Once your sources of information are severed and your chains of logic broken, you enter the stage of being manufactured into a living corpse.

The true objective of the system is to turn you into a creature of conditioned reflexes. A Pavlovian training regime teaches you to rage at “foreign hostile forces,” weep with gratitude at “the Party’s benevolence,” and remain numb in the face of social injustice.

Values are inverted: questioning becomes dangerous; independent thought becomes unnecessary; reporting your fellow citizens becomes honorable. Human empathy is gradually replaced by something demonic—you cheer distant wars and ignore suffering next door.

In the end, a human being ceases to be human and becomes a standardized product: the “pink zombie.” The body still lives, but the soul has already died under the Party’s propaganda blade. What remains is the system’s ideal product: a tool that never questions, only attacks the enemies designated by the Party.

Stage three: physical elimination—from ‘human ore’ to corpse

This is where the killing machine reveals its blade in full. Why does the CCP spend astronomical sums on “stability maintenance” to destroy your mind and turn you into a zombie? Because zombies are the most efficient consumables.

Once independent thought is erased, your body becomes an asset the Party can dispose of at will.

Stripped of thought, you willingly endure 996 labor exploitation, crushing housing prices, toxic food, and a collapsing healthcare system. You are mined like ore, burned like fuel, until the last drop of surplus value is extracted. Your brain has been programmed to “thank the state,” so rebellion never even occurs to you.

When disasters strike—floods, pandemics, collapsing tofu-dreg infrastructure—you become the “cost” in the phrase “at any cost.” Having been brainwashed to believe that “sacrifice is necessary for the greater good,” your death is reduced to a statistic, or worse, transformed into propaganda celebrating “national rejuvenation through suffering.”

And if war comes, you will volunteer to become cannon fodder.

This is the most terrifying end. When a dictator launches a war to divert internal crises or satisfy personal ambition, those hollowed-out minds, stuffed with hatred, will be sent to the battlefield in batches. The blind hatred you were trained to feel becomes the instrument of your own physical destruction.

You die for the Party’s power—yet believe you are dying for the nation.

Seeing the CCP for what it is—and leaving it—is the only way to survive

The Chinese Communist Party system is a machine that eats people. It first castrates your soul with lies and fear, stripping away human dignity and reducing you to an obedient puppet. Then it swings the sickle, harvesting your flesh and blood as fuel to keep the machine running.

In this system, no one is safe. Whether you are a common citizen, a highly educated elite, or even a general or head of state, the moment you stop thinking, one foot is already inside the meat grinder.

The only path to survival is to see the CCP’s true nature, to sever yourself from it completely, and to erase the poisonous oaths once sworn to it.
