Chinese parents were in the news this week for using extreme measures to get their children to do their homework.

A single mother in Chengdu chained her 13-year-old son’s neck to the balcony railings to make sure he did his prep while she was at work, according to Tencent News.

His neighbors felt sorry for him, and reported the case to the police who turned up to release the boy from his double punishment.

Meanwhile in Chongqing, police picked up a 9-year-old girl walking the streets in her pajamas in the middle of the night, China News reported.

When asked what had happened, the girl explained that her mother threw her out because she didn’t finish her homework.
