Why Are HK Students Singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Anti-Occupy Activists? (Video)

A funny trend has started in Hong Kong: Protesters have been singing the “Happy Birthday” song to Anti-Occupy Central supporters whenever they do something aggressive.

Their peaceful approach has had great results as the “blue ribbon” foes retreat in embarrassment, and it works well in both English and Cantonese.

The person who uploaded this video said it first happened when a student protester went to yell back on his loudspeaker, but accidentally pressed the wrong button, and played the “Happy Birthday” song instead.

What a hilariously positive way to deal with the pro-Beijingers’ heckles!
