As a basketball player, Kobe Bryant has done a lot of shooting in his career, and many of those were missed shots.
And yesterday he finally broke the record for most shots missed ever.
Kobe has now missed 13,421 shots. Most ever.
It proves Kobe is at ease doing what he wants to on the court, that the Lakers have given him the confidence and the leeway to miss so many shots.
Then again, if the Lakers can actually turn this season around, and if that has some relation to Kobe Bryant, then such a record would be overshadowed by his achievements.
But it’s not like he’s always missing shots. He makes some, too. Kobe Bryant has been among the league leaders in scoring throughout his career. He has made 45% of the shots he’s taken in the past 19 years.
And if you look at the list of missed shots leaders, he sits on top of greatness. John Havlicek, Elvin Hayes, Karl Malone, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Michael Jordan all follow Kobe on that list.
He just takes a lot of shots overall. And who makes every shot they take? If you don’t throw the ball up, it’ll never have a chance to go in.
Want him to take less shots? Get more offensive options. Get a team that doesn’t have to depend on Kobe for everything. Get players and a coach who can eclipse Kobe as team leader.
