Just days after a big cold snap hit China, bloggers have been commenting about a festival in Sichuan Province that included youngsters wearing summer clothes.

A group of primary school children had to wear thin clothes during a dance in the opening ceremony of a town festival in Nanjiang County on Dec. 27.

Photos of the show were posted online, causing concern. On Dec. 29, local authorities told media that the program had not been checked beforehand due to a lack of time.

The school master reiterated that the issue was a lack of time, and so he had chosen a well-rehearsed summer dance. He admitted that it was “a slight error.”

One photo clearly shows young children wearing short skirts and vests onstage, while the audience looked on wearing thick coats and hats. Another dance involved even younger children, also wearing thin outfits.
