This Giant Japanese Treehouse Leaves Master Builder in Total Awe

Treehouse Masters is an amazing series entering its third season on Animal Planet. In the series, tree house master (now you get the title) Pete Nelson builds all kinds of epic tree dwellings. This one may be one of my favorites.

Dream up your most epic tree house, then multiple it by two and it equals this!

The team visits the Resonare resort in Atami, Japan to meet with famous Japanese tree house builder Taka. He’s a pretty interesting guy and right off the bat you understand how seriously he takes his craft when you see what he built with metal and wood in a giant tree. As Pete Nelson puts it:

“It’s one of the biggest under takings I’ve ever seen any tree house builder take.”

The tree that Taka built the house in is over 400 years old!

Usually, tree houses dwarf the tree they’re built in, but in this case the center of this masterpiece is the tree itself. In order to support the weight of the tree house, Taka used unique metal trellises under the entire house.

The inside of the tree house isn’t that luxurious but it is quite special. Taka has used the tree itself to weave through the dwelling.

Overall this tree house is simply amazing, hope I can go visit one day!
